During a typography course, we aimed to design our own unique font with its special characters, numbers and punctuation. I decided to create Hourglass: a typography that is at the same time clean, strong, elegant and modern. It was created specifically to be part of the visual identity of soulspace, an independent book publishing studio. Its thickness and its lightness accentuates its roughnesses, making it a graphic typography both pleasant for nice titles, but also for texts a little more prominent. Its name «hourglass» refers to the rather premium look of the font, but also to the curls that can be found in the rather round letters and which reappear like mirrors.
